the news came back GREAT!
nothing scary... ulcers. Creepy gross ulcers. Ulcers that are healing themselves!!!!! The doctor said he could go back to work as soon as he is ready. which was probably a bad move because i can picture him up bright and early in the morning headed out to the job.
my day got better because i got to hang out with my favorite little girl

i don't look quite right... lets just blame my excitement to see my sweet friend. we had some cuddle time, exchanged some laughs, listened to NPR and talked about the economy. Good times.
honestly if i could quit my job and just hang out with her and her momma all day... that would be the life.

psalm 46

Tuesday morning my step-dad Bobby will be going to the hospital. The doctors are trying to identify a mass in his intestines. It is one of many options, including everything from scar tissue to cancer.
We have been waiting for a week.
Anyone who has had to wait for health news, you have my sympathy and respect. It is hell. This week has been the longest, most confusing, emotionally draining week of my entire life. I prayed and prayed for Tuesday to hurry up. Now that it is here, I am terrified and wish it were Saturday again. I don't remember many conversations, details or even events of last week. Except for her.
But we serve a creator that is so powerful, he causes earthquakes, created each human life, and loves us all dearly. This didn't surprise him. It didn't slip between his fingers. And he is good.
Please pray for us tomorrow. Pray for grace for mom as she sits in the hospital, pray for strength for dad. Pray for fear to flee our hearts. pray for patience for me as i wait at work by the phone. pray for wisdom for the doctors. and pray that it ends up being best case scenario.

I know that no matter what, God is good. And our greatest need has been met!
Oh, and I get to see Kate tomorrow

Thank you!

Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Come, behold the works of the Lord,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

nutella makes everything better

so does Psalm 145

and holding my breath

please pray for my family
we are awaiting some hard-core health related news
details will come when we know more
until then, pray that our hearts will be full of peace, and not full of fear

"I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless you
and praise your name forever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised
and his greatness is unsearchable."

"Sweet Lord, be thou for ever eye, and soul, and head for us, and let us be content to know only what Thou choosest to reveal." - Spurgeon
Um... yes PLEASE!
I was asking God "why?" about something today.
Then I read that. So I took back my question.

anyway the weather has become amazing in Charlotte. Nice and cool, clear blue skies, leaves changing color... makes me want to put on a scarf and walk around with a soy latte, find a nice park and read. You know that feeling? But then you walk around getting overheated, because it really isn't cold enough for a scarf, and so you start to sweat a bit, and your latte it too hot to drink, and it is too windy to read, all the pages start blowing you are pretty much miserable trying to make a lovely moment. That ALWAYS happens to me.
But the Panthers won! YEEAH! yesterday actually was quite lovely. We grilled brats, watched the game and dozed on the couch. And I didn't even wear a scarf or have a latte.

one of the few moments in the game when John Fox was NOT yelling at an ref..
looks like he is calling everyone in for a group hug

and here he and Pep are doing a little line dancing...
after a glorious and somewhat impossible looking touchdown. YEAH SMITTY!
"golly jeepers!"... that is what he was really saying. I promise
in this one, Jake is leading the group in a medley of High School Musical songs...
He always INSISTS on being Zac Efron, though Jeremy Bridges does a better job with the harmonizing

this is the most majestic picture my wee ojos have ever laid upon

it looks like it should be a movie poster

" man
...leading one team victory
...and then punching a teammate's face..."

the Steve-ON Smith Story (seriously... that is how his name is really pronounced. I would go by Steve too...)

It was a happy Sunday.

all of wales is celebrating

today i am sure the sun is shining in Wales a little brighter. the birds are singing a little happier.
because today is sweet Kat's b-day!
my favorite screeching, laughing, bouncing blond fireball and i wanted to celebrate the only way we know how...
by taking pictures.

we got a little distracted. She kept making this face and it was cracking me up. So we had to document it.

we love you Kat! Hope you are spoiled rotten today!

shaynah and i were watching tv the other night and heard Talking Heads in a commercial. we both started raving about how much we love them, and on a whim decided to see if they were touring (we had both heard rumors that they were...)

ANNNNND they are coming to Charlotte in December! Ahhh yea!

Also, this is one of the blogs i stalk. she had a GREAT idea... doing all her christmas shopping on etsy! I would rather give individuals my money instead of target... (honestly I love it almost as much as Disneyland!)
I have already found this for one of my soon-to-be-married friends, these for my favorite soon-to-be-born baby, and this is for myself. :)
the site can be overwhelming, but worth the look!

settle down

remember when you would get a goody bag at birthday parties? They always had random little toys in them?
My favorite was the little maze that had a bunch of small silver balls. There would be random holes that you had to get all the balls in. Usually there was a picture of a clown face or something on it. You would move it all around and try to get all the little balls to rest in the little notches. And then when you got it, you would shake it up and start over again.

Sometimes I feel like I am one of those little metal balls. Right when I get settled and comfy in my new space... start to get used to the way life is going... *shake shake shake shake* we start over. Sometimes I get upset. I ask God why why WHHHY he could leave well enough alone. I actually LIKED how things were going, Thank you very much SIR!
Then he gently corrects me and shows me that once again, he knows way way way better than I do. Way better.
Then sometimes it is exciting! I can't wait to see where we are going next, totally in awe of what the Lord is doing.
This is one of those more exciting times.
It is amazing how content and comfortable I get in my ways. I was used to hanging out with the same people all the time.
But as of late, the Lord has really answered a prayer of mine that I kinda forgot about. He has brought about some singles closer to my age! Shaynah and I have friend who watched Saved by the Bell! People who get Tom Selleck references (usually to a glorious mustache). Friends who remember the 80s!
I didn't realize how lonely I was. I love my younger friends. They are so dear to me. But it was often a temptation to be discontent with my singleness. A lot of them are entering into relationships at a young age. So then I start looking at the next group coming up. But I know they will be in relationships in a matter of time.
It is nice hanging out with people our age again!

We have started a weekly bible study! I am so excited. We are meeting at my place every Monday. Tyler and Ryan are leading (and doing a great job, though we have only had 1 meeting). We all got to meet (they are not all crossway people, which is somewhat refreshing! Meeting new people outside of my usual circle is exciting)

And as I travel around the little maze, trying to figure out where on the clowns face I am going to settle (I am hoping for the top of the hat. That was always my favorite spot when I played) I am excited to see how the Lord is going to work and move within this season!

Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. - Jer 29:12-13

hurry up november

So here I am... this lovely Tuesday night hanging out with B.O. and J Mac.

I am done with ads for local politicians. I am done with ads from Obama and McCain. I am done with Sarah Palin jokes. I am done with bumper stickers... DONE.
From day 1 I knew where my vote was. Hurry up November.
(Ok, so I am not totally done with the SNL skits. Honestly, no matter who you like, they are pretty hilarious.)

This is the most gorgeous music video I have ever seen. I wish I could do that.
"So Kendra... any talents... skills?"
"Why yes. I sidewalk dance."

Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer's;
he makes me tread on my high places.

Habakkuk 3:17-19
