before i start, random facts (i just thought of this b/c i am about to go to bed)
1) i can't sleep unless i put on chapstick. no kidding
2) after a long week sometimes, as a treat, i sleep on the futon in the living room. I sleep like a rock out there, and can sleep late. I am totally doing that tonight. Just because.

moving on

so this has been an eventful few weeks
mainly b/c i had a secret. and i had to keep this secret from my best friend. and i even had to lie to her once or twice. more of a fib.
and i had to sit on pins and needles all day on saturday... bouncing in on my couch, trying to distract myself by watching mildly scary movies with friends, jumping out of my skin every time the phone rang...
the whole time waiting for this call from Chapel Hill...

yup. my bestie is getting married! (she is checkin' out her ring and telling me about it, just minutes after it happened. there was an applause from a passing crowd. fun story)
we are now in the whirlwind of wedding planning. and it has been a blast. we both new this day would come (part of the BFF right of passage) but it has been a bit surreal. In a happy way.

anyway, last night i hung out with my other favorite girl...

kate was being the most adorable. a habit of hers. we played all of our favorite games, such as "look at GloryMagicFace and laugh" and "bang on the coffee table" and my personal favorite "walk 3 steps and then grab kenni's legs and laugh"

this picture was when she got distracted by "Say Yes to the Dress". Who can blame her? That show is pure magic. she was saying "hot daaaaayyng aunt kenni. That guurl is straight up crazy. You know das right."

lastly, David Crowder did a re-make of this song. I love the original (a friend of a friend wrote it.) but hearing it become more popular warms my hear too

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all

Yeah, He loves us,
Oh! how He loves us,
Oh! how He loves us,
Oh! how He loves.

We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
And Heaven meets earth like an unforseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…

call me the toddler whisperer.
i got abi and yay-yay to fall asleep in the same bed. No talking, to getting up (except 1 potty trip) no fighting, no playing.
just 2 girls zonked out.

the best part... they didn't even wake up when we took the picture.

oh, why hello there.
fancy seeing you here!
i have done a whole lot of nuthin these past few weeks.
so i can either make up some crazy stories to make you think i am living an amazing glamours life... or i can tell you the truth and you can politely withold your yawns.
I went to a Panther game... WE WON!
then Larissa came to town. I took her to Toast, Amelies (if you haven't been yet, you must go!) and let her beat me at scrabble
I saw Where the Wild Things Are on opening weekend and loved it. And cried.
I went to MD for Chelsea Kauflins wedding. SO AWESOME! well, she is Chelsea Campbell now...
go to megan's blog for pictures...
i saw old friends while up there, so that was fun
and today is halloween. I was thinking about going to a party tonight dressed as Punky Brewster, but instead i think i am going to lay low. and the competition there is pretty fierce.
PS- yesterday at work there was a bucket that looked like it was fully of candy. And a sign that said "help yourself". Sadly, i discovered that it was full of tums samples.
it was documented.

remember me?

here i am, sitting on my living room floor, my computer on the hearth (not sure why it has been here for the past week... but i works for me) realizing we haven't had a real update. So i am updating.
First off, this is what i look like right now.

i took this seconds ago.  This is the face of a woman who flew to Newark, drove an hour to her step-bro's rehearsal dinner, went to his wedding the next afternoon, rode 2 hours to the other side of new jersey in the middle of the night, got up and ran Jersey-errands, went with her dad and step-mom to have the dog "blessed" at church, then flew home from Philly this evening, realized that she was a hot mess (in every way) sat on the porch at 9:30 smoking a cigar chatting with the roomie, came in to check her email and re-discovered Bi-ceraritiops.
So i felt it should be documented.
But yes, my step brother mike got married. I have a sister in law, and i adore her. i don't know when i will see them next, but it was great being at their wedding.

things that have happened over the past month
1) my b-day!!! The girls and i went on our yearly trip to Charleston. They took me to an AMAZING restaurant for b-day dinner. I got shrimp/crawfish etoufee, and this dude was chillin on it. I named him Edgar, put him in a ziplock and brought him home. then threw him away.

2) went on another beach trip for an overnight
3) had my b-day party, which was awesome! corn hole and movie night!!
4) had 2 more cookouts
5) took full advantage of our porch for evenings outside
6) welcomed Grace church back, which was one of the happiest Sunday's ever
7) had my heart broken by the Panthers. 3 times actually.
8) i have fallen in love with Romans 5, especially 3-5. it is such a sweet reminder of how the Lord works all things for our  good!
9) this song has been on repeat... in my head...

and this one

so that is all
Go Dodgers!

what is wrong with you people!?!?

honestly? one of the best moments of my life and... silence?

let me paint the picture for you. Maybe that will help.
It was my b-day eve. I came out into the coffee shop in our building for my lunch break.
All of a sudden, here come my friends Blake and Ashley around the corner.
In Blake' s hand i notice a ribbon...
which is connected to
who, by the way, was about 30 times bigger than i expected.
words cannot express my joy

so, i received an email that a photoshoot was to be had (it was Blake's for real b-day, and i got him Walter the Trex...)

real reaction. True joy.
true love
still too excited to pose for the real picture.
trying not to laugh and giggle with the delight that glorymagicface was mine
fake serious. the joy was bursting.

there. now lets try again

this is still a fave

this is by Paul Tripp

Psalm 27: Inner Strength

"Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." (v.14)

This side of eternity you and I are called to wait. We're called to recognize that the most important, most essential, most beautiful, and most lasting things in our life are things over which we have no control. No, these things are the gracious gifts of a loving Father. He never is foolish in the way he dispenses his gifts. He never plays favorites. He never mocks our neediness. He never plays bait and switch. He never teases or toys with us. His timing is always right and the gifts that he gives are always appropriate to the moment. He is kind, faithful, loving, merciful, and good.

The One on whom we wait is a dissatisfied Messiah. He will not relent, he will not quit, he will not rest until ever promise he has made been fully delivered. He will not turn from his work until every one of his children has been totally transformed. He will continue to fight until the last enemy is under his feet. He will reign until his kingdom has fully come. As long as sin exists, he will shower us with forgiving, empowering, and delivering grace. He will defend us against attack and attack the enemy on our behalf. He will be faithful to convict, rebuke, encourage, and comfort. He will continue to open the warehouse of his wisdom and unfold for us the glorious mysteries of his truth. He will stand with us through the darkness and the light. He will guide us on a path we could never have discovered or would never have been wise enough to choose. He will supply for us every good thing that we need to be what he's called us to be and to do what he's called us to do in the place where he's put us. And he will not rest from his work until every last microbe of sin has been completely eradicated from every heart of each of his children!

Yet, with all of this being true, we find it hard to wait. We aren't always "strong" in our waiting. No, waiting for many of us becomes a time for increasing fear, doubt, discouragement and susceptibility to temptation. As faith grows weak, our resolve begins to dim, and we begin to secretly wonder if its worth it to obey.

Why? Why do we struggle to be "strong and take heart," when we are being called to wait? Perhaps the answer is found in Romans 4: 18-21.

"Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father
of many nations, just as it has been said to him, 'So shall your
offspring be.' Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that
his body was as good as dead - since he was about a hundred years
old - and that Sarah's womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver
through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened
in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God
had the power to do what he had promised."

Why did Abraham grow stronger in faith as he waited those many long years? It isn't because he played mental denial games. No, the passage makes it very clear that he faced the facts of the situation head on. In his time of waiting, Abraham had a very different experience than we often do because Abraham did something that we often fail to do. Here it is. The temptation, in times of waiting, is to focus on the thing we are waiting for, all the obstacles that are in the way, our inability to make it happen, and all of the other people who haven't seemed to have had to wait. Along with this we rehearse to ourselves how essential the thing is and how much we are daily losing in its absence. All of this increases our feeling of helplessness, our tendency to think our situation is hopeless, and our judgment that waiting is futile.

While it's true that Abraham considered the facts, they weren't the focus on his meditation. No, his focus was on the God who had made this promise. Everyday Abraham would get up and remind himself that the God who'd made the promises on which he was waiting was absolutely able to deliver them. The God who made heaven and earth would have no trouble causing an old woman to deliver a promised child! Abraham didn't fill his mind with his own weakness and the seeming futility of the situation. No, he filled his mind again and again with the glory of God's immeasurable power, and as he did, he grew stronger and stronger in faith.

Somewhere in your life you are being called to wait. In your waiting, you are being given an opportunity to deepen and strengthen your faith. So, get up tomorrow and fill yourself with vitamins of truth. Nourish your heart with the nutrient food of the glory of God. Feed on the strength-giving meat of his goodness, grace, and love. Snack throughout the day on his power and his presence. And watch the muscles of your heart grow stronger as the days go by. Feed on your Lord and be strong!

creeper pt 2

in continuation with the story (this is hilarious)

tonight at DFL the guys noticed Jesse's number.
I told the story to the ones who didn't know. And jokingly said "so if anyone wants to call him..."
My hero Adams Hawkins grabs the number out of my hand and said "yup... right now" and proceeds to dial the number
this is what i heard

"Is this Jesse? Well, I have a message for you. Don't chase jogging girls insisting on giving them your number. No... no... no man, she didn't want it. She's my girl. No. You can't be doing that again. Nope... no, we don't need to solve this. Just don't do that..."
and then he was hung up on.

according to Adam, Jesse at first was a bit panicky, saying "I didn't know she was married" and then claiming i DIDN'T turn down his number 3 times before finally taking it to make him go away. And then offered to fight.
he tried to call adam back at one point, but to no avail.

Praise the Lord for sweet friends who call creepers.

today i went for a jog/walk. It started raining a bit. And then a bit more. Thankfully, i was almost done and close to home, and to be quite honest, the rain felt amazing.
so... again, almost home. I decide to book it the rest of the way and broke into a hardcore run. I see a car coming and it slowed down and the guy rolled down his window
"Do you know where Kent Village Rd is?"
me: Yup *jogging in place*  2nd left past the pool
dude: ok... so um... are you married
me: ummm... *still jogging in place with rain and sweat on my face and hair* nope. Bye *start to run off*
dude: *yelling* can you remember a phone number?
me: NOPE *running off*
dude: *yelling* wait... hold up, i am going to pull over *though he was going in the OPPOSITE direction
i kept on running down the road
he had to pull over because another car was coming. I was sure that he would get the hint. Especially because i had made it pretty far down the road during this entire process.
then i noticed dude pulled up beside me, driving in reverse, holding out a piece of paper with his number.
I mean... wow.
so that is the secret ladies. no more make up, cute outfits, working on our hair. Just got for a run in the rain. That is all it takes.

PS- Jesse's number is staying on the fridge. because me and the roomies find it HILARIOUS

Le Petit Prince

have you ever read the little prince? If not, you should. This chapter is my favorite.

It was then that the fox appeared.

"Good morning," said the fox.

"Good morning," the little prince responded politely, although when he turned around he saw nothing.

"I am right here," the voice said, "under the apple tree." "

Who are you?" asked the little prince, and added, "You are very pretty to look at."

"I am a fox," said the fox.

"Come and play with me," proposed the little prince.

"I am so unhappy." "I cannot play with you," the fox said. "I am not tamed."

"Ah! Please excuse me," said the little prince. But, after some thought, he added: "What does that mean, 'tame'?"

"You do not live here," said the fox. "What is it that you are looking for?"

"I am looking for men," said the little prince. "What does that mean, 'tame'?"

"Men," said the fox. "They have guns, and they hunt. It is very disturbing. They also raise chickens. These are their only interests. Are you looking for chickens?"

"No," said the little prince. "I am looking for friends. What does that mean, 'tame'?"

"It is an act too often neglected," said the fox. It means to establish ties."

"'To establish ties'?"

"Just that," said the fox. "To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world..."

"I am beginning to understand," said the little prince. "There is a flower... I think that she has tamed me..."

"It is possible," said the fox. "On the Earth one sees all sorts of things."

"Oh, but this is not on the Earth!" said the little prince. The fox seemed perplexed, and very curious.

"On another planet?"

"Are there hunters on this planet?"

"Ah, that is interesting! Are there chickens?"

"Nothing is perfect," sighed the fox. But he came back to his idea. "My life is very monotonous," the fox said. "I hunt chickens; men hunt me. All the chickens are just alike, and all the men are just alike. And, in consequence, I am a little bored. But if you tame me, it will be as if the sun came to shine on my life . I shall know the sound of a step that will be different from all the others. Other steps send me hurrying back underneath the ground. Yours will call me, like music, out of my burrow. And then look: you see the grain-fields down yonder? I do not eat bread. Wheat is of no use to me. The wheat fields have nothing to say to me. And that is sad. But you have hair that is the colour of gold. Think how wonderful that will be when you have tamed me! The grain, which is also golden, will bring me back the thought of you. And I shall love to listen to the wind in the wheat..." The fox gazed at the little prince, for a long time. "Please, tame me!" he said.

"I want to, very much," the little prince replied. "But I have not much time. I have friends to discover, and a great many things to understand."

"One only understands the things that one tames," said the fox. "Men have no more time to understand anything. They buy things all ready made at the shops. But there is no shop anywhere where one can buy friendship, and so men have no friends any more. If you want a friend, tame me..."

"What must I do, to tame you?" asked the little prince.

"You must be very patient," replied the fox. "First you will sit down at a little distance from me, like that, in the grass. I shall look at you out of the corner of my eye, and you will say nothing. Words are the source of misunderstandings. But you will sit a little closer to me, every day..."

The next day the little prince came back.

"It would have been better to come back at the same hour," said the fox. "If, for example, you come at four o'clock in the afternoon, then at three o'clock I shall begin to be happy. I shall feel happier and happier as the hour advances. At four o'clock, I shall already be worrying and jumping about. I shall show you how happy I am! But if you come at just any time, I shall never know at what hour my heart is to be ready to greet you... One must observe the proper rites..."

"What is a rite?" asked the little prince.

"Those also are actions too often neglected," said the fox. "They are what make one day different from other days, one hour from other hours. There is a rite, for example, among my hunters. Every Thursday they dance with the village girls. So Thursday is a wonderful day for me! I can take a walk as far as the vineyards. But if the hunters danced at just any time, every day would be like every other day, and I should never have any vacation at all."

So the little prince tamed the fox. And when the hour of his departure drew near...

"Ah," said the fox, "I shall cry."

"It is your own fault," said the little prince. "I never wished you any sort of harm; but you wanted me to tame you..."

"Yes, that is so," said the fox.

"But now you are going to cry!" said the little prince.

"Yes, that is so," said the fox.

"Then it has done you no good at all!"

"It has done me good," said the fox, "because of the color of the wheat fields." And then he added: "Go and look again at the roses. You will understand now that yours is unique in all the world. Then come back to say goodbye to me, and I will make you a present of a secret."

The little prince went away, to look again at the roses. "You are not at all like my rose," he said. "As yet you are nothing. No one has tamed you, and you have tamed no one. You are like my fox when I first knew him. He was only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But I have made him my friend, and now he is unique in all the world." And the roses were very much embarrassed. "You are beautiful, but you are empty," he went on. "One could not die for you. To be sure, an ordinary passerby would think that my rose looked just like you, the rose that belongs to me. But in herself alone she is more important than all the hundreds of you other roses: because it is she that I have watered; because it is she that I have put under the glass globe; because it is she that I have sheltered behind the screen; because it is for her that I have killed the caterpillars (except the two or three that we saved to become butterflies); because it is she that I have listened to, when she grumbled, or boasted, or even sometimes when she said nothing. Because she is my rose.

And he went back to meet the fox. "Goodbye," he said.

"Goodbye," said the fox. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

"What is essential is invisible to the eye," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.

"It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important."

"It is the time I have wasted for my rose..." said the little prince, so that he would be sure to remember.

"Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. "But you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose..."

"I am responsible for my rose," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.

so many things...

1) i was sick earlier this week and lost my voice. but i am better now. calm down.

2) i was heart broken over MJ's death. I was a big fan of his music and saweeet dance moves!!! I was even more sadened by ome of the things people have been saying about him lately. God created him, loved him, gave him incredible talent. Yes, he was a sinner. But so am I! In fact, i am the chief sinner. The saddest part is his separation from the King. a friend-of-a-friend said it beautifully "I think putting people in a box defined by their sin is anti-Christ. During life. Or after. When I die apart from Gods grace, I will die as Andrew. The self righteous film guy who talked about himself way too much."

3) A few weeks ago Jeanie got me an AMAZING gift that i finally broke out...

a sno-cone machine with cups, flavors and spoon straws!!!! today i had a wild cherry pepsi sno-cone. Perfect after an afternoon at the pool watching creepy guys show off their skills on the diving board...

4) about a year and a half ago my friend Carter started working on a film project. He took some friends out to LA to skid row
Skid row is the most dangerous area if the city. Carter had a burden for those people (all homeless) to hear the gospel. So and and his crew made sandwiches every morning, bought bottles of water and headed out. Everyone worked in different ministries all over the US, a lot of them skater-focused.
Here is a clip from the most recent installment. If you are like me, you don't watch videos on people's blogs. But please PLEASE find a few minutes in your day to watch this. It is intense. These are people who live on the streets and you hear about their problems. But Carter and his crew had been loving and faithful to them. They trust them, and through that are coming to know the one that died for them! Please pray for the Enoch crew and they continue with this project!

my roommate lauren works at PF changs.
Do you know what that means?

That means that last night, after setting up for the youth banquet, having the entire pipe-n-drape "hallway" we made collapse, breaking many of the lights hung on it, spending an hour fixing it, getting home, unable to sleep... i opened the fridge and found lettuce wraps with my name on them.

it was a good night,

epic fail:

please note the date of the last post.

Sunday, June 7, 2009

the park is popping.

so, charlotte is a great city. Nay, a fantastic city. It is pretty, warm, we have a football team and yet just 20 min away you see cows and pastures.
but there aren't many awesome things to do in Charlotte that don't feel... forced. I don't know why, but that is the word that fits it best.
There is on thing. One glorious, amazing, lovely thing.
Pops in the Park!!!

Every summer during the month of June, the Charlotte Symphony has free Sunday night outdoor concerts. It is out near SouthPark, and you bring a blanket, wine, tasty food and lay out and listen to the incredible music. It is the MOST fun.
Some people nap, some people play games, some people just catch up. Some of my favorite summer memories take place there.
Anyway, tonight is the kick-off. "Symphony Goes Country" is the theme. That is when they play songs from Oklahoma, as well as some other favorites. The best night is "Celebrate America" night, which is the last sunday in june. There are fireworks that night. It is pretty perfect.
So, that is my report on Pops in the Park.
Everytime i typed "pops in the park" i would first type "poops" and have to correct it. Whoops. That is a different event all together. But equally magical.

go listen to the Next messages. NOOOOOOW.
During DA Carson's message he read this poem that he wrote... i loved it so much that i wanted you all to see it as well. It is on the next blog. as well as justin taylors

Before there was a universe,

  Before a star or planet,
When time had still not yet begun—

  I scarcely understand it—
Th’ eternal Word was with his God,

  God’s very Self-Expression;
Th’ eternal Word was God himself—

  And God had planned redemption.

The Word became our flesh and blood—

  The stuff of his creation—
The Word was God, the Word was flesh,

  Astounding incarnation!
But when he came to visit us,

  We did not recognize him.
  Although we owed him everything

  We haughtily despised him.

In days gone by God showed himself

  In grace and truth to Moses;
But in the Word of God made flesh

  Their climax he discloses.
For grace and truth in fullness came

  And showed the Father’s glory
When Jesus donned our flesh and died:

  This is the gospel story.

All who delighted in his name,

All those who did receive him,
All who by grace were born of God,

All who in truth believed him—
To them he gave a stunning right:

  Becoming God’s dear children!
  Here will I stay in grateful trust;

Here will I fix my vision.

  Before there was a universe,

  Before a star or planet,
When time had still not yet begun—

  I scarcely understand it—
Th’ eternal Word was with his God,

  God’s very Self-Expression;
Th’ eternal Word was God himself—

  And God had planned redemption.

today i went to the pool for the first time this summer. YAAAYYY! I introduced new-roomie Renae to the tradition of hitting up Sonic post-pool.
So, i used one of those spray sunscreens today. i am normally pretty good at those. and i got ALMOST everywhere. I got a little trigger happy on my shoulder, and kinda negelcted the rest of it. So now i have a super pale spot surrounded by pink. It looks pretty awesome. I keep laughing when i see it.

new favorite thing to do: listen to 80s-90s power ballads. I had some Bad English, Journey, Peter Cetera and REO Speedwagon going earlier. It makes me want to be in a music video. with hair constantly blowing in a breeze. Even when indoors. And the streets will always be wet, as if it just rained. Even when the sun is out. And neon lights reflecting everywhere. And a key-tar. *AHEMJORDANKAUFLIN*

there are 4 important things in this picture you need to see. Well, 5

1) i am holding the keys to my new (to me) car. a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. Dang straight. It is Dodger blue. Not to mistaken with Duke blue. 2 very different colors. One brings joy, one brings shame. We are the joyful one.
2) those sunglasses on my head. In the past 48 hours they have been in the possession 3 different people. They only just made their way home. Shaynah got them for me last year on my b-day and i haven't seen them in awhile. So i am happy.
3) i am on the phone (i really was when i took this. With Mindy). about a week and a half ago i was asked to plan the youth banquet. Not just decorations or food or volunteers. All of it. All. Of. It. So my life is now being on my phone with everyone trying to get this thing together.
4) as a result of that and the past 2 crazy days, my hair has been sticking up on the sides like that. I wore it to work like that
5) my nose is starting to get tan. That means summer is here. The pool is  almost ready... YESSSS

Psalm 19. All of it. read it again.

so... i haven't talked about American Idol much this season
That is because this is the first time i have loved almost EVERYONE!
though my very most best favorite got kicked off a couple of weeks ago.

this is him
he is matt.

So now we are down to the top 3... as of this morning my faves were in this order

Kris Allen... i adore him. he is sweet and leads worship at his church and is super talented...

next, Danny Gokey. He is also a Christian and an awesome guy. Musically though, i prefer Kris

Lastly, Adam Lambert. He is obscenely talented and super creeptastic. There are moments I am horrified at him, and moments where I am blown away. So I didn't want him to win. at all.

... until i learned this: he graduated from Mt Carmel High School.

fact about me
when i was a little girl, there were 2 things i wanted in life. 2 things i dreamed about
1) to work at Sea World
2) to graduate from Mt Carmel, which is where my mom, 2 uncles, 2 aunts and 2 cousins graduated. I went to football games, track meets, homecoming, and  graduations there. I knew that school like the back of my hand. I would play in the stands, run on the track with my mom, watched water polo games... everything.  I loved that school. Red and gold baby.

clearly, i did not go to school there. But Adam did. Therefore, he moved up a notch in my book.

that is all.

today: a report by Kendra Leigh Sands.

Today I got up much later than i was supposed to. I got dressed in an outfit that i thought made me look like a bumble bee, though i got some compliments on it. On the drive to work i listened to worship music and sang and worshipped super loud. It was glorious Then I worked. We had Hello Kitty cupcakes. We were celebrating Admin day, and they were for the best Admin of all, Emily. They all had a plastic Hello Kitty ring. It was clearly made for the fingers of a 3 year old, but i wore it anyway. It cut off circulation in my finger. But it was worth it. Then everyone got super hyper at the same time. Then I realized i had hot pink icing on my shirt. Then it was lunch time and my friend Jessica ate with me. She had pasta and i had hummus and carrots and yummy Trader Joe's flax seed veggie chips. Then I got my ipod and listening to a bunch of classic-americana-rock. Skynyrd, Croche, Dylan, CCR, Petty... so on and so on. And it was awesome.
Then I got a free cup of coffee from the cafe.
Then I came home.
Then I remembered that I wanted to show you all this scene from Rachel Getting Married. This is Tunde Somethinsomethin who is the lead singer for a band called TV on the Radio. His character is singing Neil Young to his wife on their wedding day as his vows. And it is incredible

a photo tour of boston

get ready folks. put on your seat belts and get ready for a ride through the great city of Boston.

this is the very last picture i took in Boston. It was the morning we left. I was NOT ready to get out of bed. I was fully dressed, fully packed, put in my contacts, washed my face, brushed my teeth, and then got back into bed until it was time to leave.

ok, day 1

Boston Common...

Shay and her new friend. This playground was adorable

pretty building along BC

one of those pictures we take in which we are the only ones who know where we are and what is going on.

the freedom trail... it was either bricks or red paint the whole way.

inside King's Chapel, the church that Louisa May Alcott went to... other historic people went there as well, but i was just focused on my girl Louisa.

Old North Church, where the 2 lanterns were hung per Paul Revere's Midnight ride. As you can see, Shay and I rebelliously sat in the back and took pictures.

inside Mike' Pastry... the most glorious place on the face of the earth

after UNC won their Final Four game... we were celebrating while waiting for our train.

our view of Boston from Top of the Hub

outside the Christian Science compound thing... the wind was CRA-ZAY... God's way of telling us to get out of there

a pretty church where i dozed on the steps

in the public garden... he was playing the accordion. It was awesome. I felt very french. minus the boston accents. and the fact we were in boston.

Remember that book "Make Way for Ducklings"? This is the island it was written about. There was also a statue of the ducks, and while we were there, one of them was stolen. It MIGHT be in my yard now. No... it isn't. maybe.

our hair was crazy-awesome-wild

HAVAHD!!!! I loved it there.

this is John Harvard. But not really.
They had no idea what John Harvard looked like, so they had another guy pose. Normally the honor given to people was to name a building after them. It would have been student housing. Normally they are named things like "Wadsworth House"... things like that.
Well, this man was instead allowed to pose as John Harvard. His name was Sherman Hoar. Clearly, they could not have named one of the buildings after him...

(PS- they say students touch his foot for good luck... don't do it.)

2 smaht ladies. don't pahk ya cah in havahd yahd

watching Carolina WIN

celebrating in the streets of Cambridge! (alone... no one else was out... at all. We didn't care)

this. was. awesome.

waiting for the tour to start. we found a cute cafe and played UNO. I ruled.

the brewery

our sample glass (which i got to keep)

shay made another friend... this neighborhood where the brewery was had interesting decor

me with my sample glass and a few souvenirs

Long's Warf (and my boat)

the best lunch we had... all under $3

SOOOOO tasty

Jamaica Plain... as shaynah said "what NoDa wants to be when it grows up"

outside the MFA... a random lady said "Oh! It'sa baybee heaaad"

let me geek out for a moment
when i look at art, i get inches away from the picture, then back away, then step up again sometimes... i repeated that about 3 times with this one. I just wants to see the brush strokes on her dress. Normally security asks me to step back. But no one did that here.

she is so cute

my FAVORITE room. It took me a looong time to make my way around. My nose accidentally touched a few of them. Oops.

Van Gogh (can't lie... my eyes got teary when i saw these in person. I am my mother's daughter)

Degas (NOT of dancers... this is my favorite of his)

one happy girl after an afternoon of art (please ignore the naked lady behind me.)

ok, so Shaynah and i LOVE the move The Departed. We heard that this place was used to film some scenes. And that it was one of the few pubs in world that serves Sam Adams Boston Brick Red (only served in a few old bars in Boston. No where else). So we had to come here. And let me tell you, it was quite an adventure getting here. (our story includes going the wrong way on a scary street, thinking a man was going to attack us, and taking a cab for all of 3 blocks)

but TOTALLY worth it (NOT miller lite. Ew.)

me listening to "Comfortably Numb" form the Departed soundtrack, while sitting in the place where the movie was filmed. EEK. We thought about touching every table hoping it was the one that Jack Nicholson and Leo Dicaprio sat at.

Fenway park!!! We didn't go in, sadly

back to the public garden

dozing (this was before she did her personal photo shoot, taking like 12 pics. She thought i was asleep. I very much was not. and I laughed.)

and dozing

best. pizza. ever. If you go to Boston, go to Regina's. The love of my life works there. I don't know his name, or anything about him... but i love him.

cannoli choc-chip booger!
our view the last day, eating our cannolis while still full of pizza.
reason #289 why i am still single.
i want them. that is all i have to say about this picture.
sad about leaving boston. :(
