...today is Mr. Rogers birthday. this is the sweetest.

...celebrated the first day of spring by eating outside with 2 of my favorite work buddies, and had an impromptu photo shoot under the willow tree. then saw david's car had been moved by our other friends. there was a lot of laughing. and wendy's now has the squeeze and dip ketchup, which is the best.
David (right) said this one should be called "Sierra" since that was the filter i used when i Instagram'd it)

you ain't a beauty

my favorite Springsteen song is Thunder Road. In it he says the line "you ain't a beauty, but hey, you're alright".
from anyone else it would be an insult. But he makes it work

last night at the beginning of the show Bruce was introduced. We were also told that we would hear old favorites, and a long list of songs were named. Guess what song wasn't on the list...

the whole show i  held my breath. I knew Thunder Road wasn't an encore song. I knew it also wasn't being played every night.

the boss

tonight is the night.

trust story... we (Ashley and I) didn't get tickets. like, at all. we tried, and it didn't work out. so we forgot about the show. i'd get sad whenever there was an update on twitter (his twitter posts set lists and pictures from each show) but no big deal.

then, a co-worker gave us tickets. on friday. for the show today!
so exciting! we are leaving work early, driving to greensboro and rocking out, then driving back and crawling into work the tomorrow morning with ringing ears and little sleep. but it will be totally worth it.

i'll be spending all day listening to the new album so i can pretend to know the new songs. and i saw that they have been playing my favorite song (Thunder Road) every night, so i'll be set.

i took a picture of this shirt and text it to Ashley saying i was buying it for the show. she replied with just "no". but how hilarious would it have been?

letter to Thom

i read this today on "cup of jo", one of my favorite blogs. I immiediatly loved it and wanted to post it.
This is a letter that author John Steinbeck (Of Mice and Men, Grapes of Wrath) wrote to his son Thom. Thom had just written a letter to his parents from boarding school telling them he was in love with a girl named Susan. The response is lovely

The guy in my life

Shaynah went into labor a whole week early! My nephew Aiden showed up on Friday morning. And i'm pretty in love already

I went back today and got even more cuddles. His daddy, Michael, has sent me 3 videos so far. They will be tiding me over between visits

Prepare yourself...he will probably be the star of my blog for a while!

KONY 2012

For about 6 years I have been following and supporting Invisible Children.
I've shared there story on here before.
Now they are trying to band our nation to stop Kony.
How?
We are going to make him famous. We want every person in the US to know his face, to band together, to help our government stop this man. It isn't about which party you are with. It's about a country uniting to help, because it is right.
this video is long, but incredible. PLEASE WATCH. PLEASE HELP

MC

master cleanse.
it's enough to strike fear into any red blooded American.
have you heard of it?
its sounds horrible. like, only crazy people do this.
basically, you only drink a concoction of fresh squeezed lemon juice (1 lemon per serving), a couple of spoonfuls of maple syrup and a pinch of Cayenne pepper, and water. they call it lemonade. it sounds nothing like lemonade to me.
i have a few friend who have done the MC. i watched them go through the phases... (oh. did i mention that you do that for 10 days? No food. Just the lemonade. At least 4 servings a day. But up to 12)
i had no interest in this at all. it looked dumb.
then, i felt like i needed to. i felt the Lord calling me to fast in some way, not just the not eating for a day, not just the "only juice" for a few days. All 10 days. Just "lemonade". Not a bite of food.
